Dr. Nur Hafizah Abd Khalid has been awarded as ROK-ASEAN NEXT INNOVATOR 2020. The Government of Republic of Korea (ROK), in support of Science and Technology Policy Institute (STEPI), and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) recognize the importance of science, technology and innovation in promoting the economic development of nations. To this effect, an annual award is established to encourage young scientists and engineers to take on research in science, technology and innovation. The ASEAN-ROK Award for Excellence in Science, Technology and Innovation recognizes the academic and professional achievements of promising, early-career scientists and engineers of ASEAN nationality. She will receive USD 12,000 given by the ROK.
Dr. Nur Hafizah Abd Khalid is a senior lecturer at School of Civil Engineering in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), a council member of Concrete Society Malaysia (CSM). Her research interest focuses on advanced concrete technology (green concrete technology and fiber reinforced concrete), polymer composites, composites and bio-composites, and value-added waste materials. Dr. Nur joined Prof. Tung-Chai Ling research group (WTCR) at the Hunan University in May, 2019 as a visiting scholar under the support of 2019-2020 Talented Young Scientist Program (TYSP) established by China Government. During the 1 year visit, Dr. Nur took part in several international conferences, and actively participated in research group’s activities. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Hunan University and UTM.
